In September the Art Gallery Putti will host a very interesting and conceptual exhibition of two special jewelry designers, the Hungarian artist Réka Lörincz and the German artist Gisbert Stach. The exhibition will open on September 8th and will run until September 27th with an eccentric title – Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious – Jewellery is not only jewellery.
The exhibition aims at challenging the meaning of jewelry and of what jewelry should be.
This kind of reflection starts from the idea that there are many misunderstanding in the common meaning of jewelry.
On the border of kitsch and consume Réka Lörincz from Budapest and Gisbert Stach from Munich show a colourful kaleidoscope of jewelry, objects, installations and films where they try to define and enlighten the field of jewelry in a new humoristic, critical and philosophical way. Both are doing as well collaborations in making jewellery pieces.
Réka Lörincz’s jewelry is playing with the colourful world of plastics and toys that she is deforming by absurd and surrealistic elements into amazing jewelry pieces. Their objects are pretending to have a function. But by combining abstract materials the visitor is surprised by the humour and colourfulness of the installation. Réka Lörincz has studied in Hungarian University of Craft and Design and she attended the workshop with Gemma Drapper and Ted Noten. Her works were been shown in various group and personal exhibitions around the world.
Gisbert Stach is working on processes that are manifested in time and nature.
By filming the dissolution and destruction values and symbols he is questioning with his video works about the meaning of jewelry in our society. On the other hand, he is creating and rebuilding objects from the everyday life like fast food that surprise by unexpected materials.
Gisbert Stach has studied in Munich at the jewelry department of the Academy of Fine Arts.
His artworks are exhibited in international galleries and renowned museums such as the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich and are part of public collection. In addition to his work of contemporary jewelry designer, Gisbert Stach creates performances, sculptures and video art.
